SIGNAL

THE STORY

I wanted Signal to feel like a living, breathing thing. I embraced string orchestra to play alongside my analog synths because I wanted that friction between the human hand and the electronic circuit. It’s a cold album in some ways, but it’s also very honest, it’s about those moments where technology and emotion finally connect.

In this album I composed string orchestration (Violin, Viola, Cello and Contrabass) and then composed the electronic sounds around the string arrangements. I took orchestration lessons to be able to achieve it.

THE TRACKS

Air is a classical opening track where one can hear the journey starts. The video clip I created below tells its story.

Entropy is a very pulsating track, many sounds come in and out but a steady rhythm section lasts long. The track builds up towards the climax happening at around 4:20 followed by a gradual relief.

Waveform is back to roots with a very melodic and light track. The avid listener can hear a few musical tricks of harmony and contrapunkt.

Sensor sees a collaboration with Polish violinist Dominik Chmurski who masterfully put his signature sound alongside mine. It is a dark and gloomy track, but one that brings catharsis and release to the soul. The track ends with powerful rhythm and orchestration.

Particle is a hopeful track with its upbeat rhythms and harmonies, a perfect ending to this album.

As a homage to this album's inspiration, Daft Punk's Tron Legacy soundtrack, I created Tron.
